Sunday – May 20, 2018 – 10:00am-4:30pm
CV Rich Mansion, 305 Ridgeway, White Plains, NY 10605
The day was open to our Military Women, Active Duty, Reservist or Veteran.
Every branch of the service was represented.
The day featured a program of workshops, holistic wellness modalities and healthy food.
Every attendee was able to experience at least two wellness modalities offered by practitioners from the lower Hudson Valley who generously donated their time for the day. Our speakers were also Women Veterans or speakers who have extensive experience working with the veteran population. Integrative Medicine specialist and former US Army Nurse Charlene Marx gave a fascinating keynote on Tenacity, illustrating the meaning of the word via the history of women in the military going back to the Revolutionary War. She also detailed the struggle women faced to be validated and recognized so they could receive the same health care and other benefits as the men with whom they served.
Kayleen Spicer facilitated a journaling workshop designed to shift a negative mindset and to empower women in their day to day lives.
Former USAF, Sharon Bailey led a workshop entitled, Buckle Your Seat Belt: Brace Yourself for the Next Transition. The focus again was on personal empowerment and the importance of self-care.
Thanks to our wonderful speakers and workshop facilitators for helping to make the day such a success!
